A Life of Service
I’m Michelle Boylan, a Liberal Member of the WA Legislative Council.
Before entering Parliament, I spent my life in service – working in hospitality, serving as a police officer, supporting students and chaplains in schools, and representing my community as a local councillor. I’ve never chased titles. I’ve simply followed where I thought I could make the most difference.
I grew up in Duncraig in a home my parents built from the ground up. They believed in effort, honesty, and public service – and those values continue to guide me today.
As a police officer, I saw how broken systems affect real people, especially in regional and outer-metro communities. I saw how hard it can be to escape violence, access mental health services, or get support for children in crisis.
Later, with YouthCARE, I worked across public schools to help support families and build stronger communities before crisis hit. That work only deepened my belief that good government can’t fix everything – but it should never forget who it’s here to serve.
In 2019, I ran for the Shire of Harvey Council and was humbled to be elected with the highest number of votes. I saw firsthand the power of local problem-solving – and the frustration when decisions made in Perth don’t match the realities on the ground.
Now, as a Member of the Legislative Council, I bring those lived experiences with me to Parliament. I don’t pretend to have all the answers – but I promise to listen, stand up, and never lose sight of the people I’m here to represent.
